New for 2017
CFSB Certified Professionals will be required to earn at least 2.0 CE hours in funeral service law updates to renew certification at “Active” status for 2018.
The laws that pertain to funeral service in Colorado are somewhat complex and often misunderstood. It is essential that CFSB Certified Professionals maintain a basic knowledge of Colorado Revised Statutes and federal laws that pertain to funeral service. Many state boards require CE credit from laws updates to maintain a Funeral Director license, and CFSB has now adopted this standard for its voluntary certification program.
The Colorado Funeral Service Board will identify and must approve classes that are eligible for the required laws credit to ensure that programs satisfy the required criteria.
The Colorado Funeral Directors Association has developed a new series of classes entitled, “The Basics of Colorado Funeral Service Laws”. The pilot programs offered at CFDA Fall District Meetings in August and September 2016 have been approved by CFSB as qualifying laws credit.
CFDA will be expanding these classes in 2017 to ensure that more CFSB certified professionals will have the opportunity to earn the required 2.0 credits before the end of the calendar year.
